George Washington Sculpt

Crude and still very early in the process, but work has begun on my newest donation piece to the Artist Preservation Group. This will be another 250mm bust this time of American Founding Father, first President and national hero, George Washington. I hope to convey his intense look as he might have appeared when crossing the Delaware River that Christmas Eve in 1776 for their attack on the sleeping-drunken Hessians at the Battle of Trenton.

I'm just getting started on a new portrait bust. This one will be offered to the Artist Preservation Group in support of this years Dunsmore Project. The subject will be a 250mm bust of General George Washington. I'll be sure to post some pics once there is something to see.

Native American Bust...more progress

Here is an update on my latest sculpt. The chest and shoulders were on the smallish side at my last post so those have been reworked and the face has been modified as well to look a bit more like an American Indian than the more caucasian look he had before. The hair-pipe chest plate is being created from rolled out sections of Duro putty and I've begun work on the hair and other details. It's coming along now...

Thanks for looking!

...more sculpting progress - Native American bust

Here are some more pics of the current sculpting projects. I've reworked the corners of the mouth to angle down a bit more and am also working on symmetry issues and final smoothing. The clean-up and refinement seems to take forever. I must learn to work more cleanly! I've spent more time on this face than I ever have and am pleased with it so far. I want to continue this same dedication to getting everything the best I can to all areas of the bust. In the past, I think I get a little too anxious to finish or I think I can add that detail with paint later and my work gets a little sloppy as a result. This time, there are no deadlines or other obligations with the piece so I can just let it happen. Thanks for looking and comments are always greatly appreciated.

Workbench Updates - Summer 2007

It's been some time since I last updated my Blog, so here is some news. I was happy to have sold my last sculpt of the 506th, E Company, Captain -1944 and it should be released in late summer in time for the Euro Militaire show. Check back here or on Timelines Forum for more updates on this release. I'll be painting the box art for it as well which I'm looking forward to doing.

I have a new sculpt underway. This time it's another Native American subject. This will be a very dramatic piece that will include a stuffed crow for a hair ornament as well as a nice buffalo robe. The scale is 250mm.

I've also included some pictures of a nearly completed 54mm ACW stock figure and a 90mm medieval standard bearer. Both piece are being painted for collectors.

Thanks for looking in and I'll try to keep more updates coming.
