The Red Knight
Here is a 75 mm Latorre figure I just painted. I was inspired to paint mine after seeing David Hood's version at the last Chicago Show. I don't get to paint many just for me so this one was fun to do. Painted mainly with acrylics but I got into using some oils for the groundwork and also for weathering the figure. I also added the wood grain with paint to the inside of the shield. I'll have this one at the Atlanta Show where it will be available for sale.

GW Sculpt Update 1/03/08
Happy New Year!
Here are some further pics on the Washington portrait. I am using a number of sources for reference, but my main source is the great bust sculpted by the great sculptor Houdon. The forms are starting to come together a bit now as I continue trying to match the volumes of his unique and very well known face. I've been reading a bit about the drawing concept of Chiaroscuro whereby volumes are depicted by the depth and placement of shadows. I've found that some of these principles are helping me with sculpting from 2 dimensional images.
The ears are only for form and will be covered by his hair/wig later............
Thanks for looking!
