Hussar Head Sculpt

Here are a few first looks at the head for the Hannoverian Hussar bust. The initial volumes are going in and I'm working to recreate a wounded left eye. It's tricky to get it where it looks like a deformity rather than bad sculpting. Hopefully, I got it right. Still in the beginning stages with much to do. His bushy moustache will be added later.

Hannoverian Guard Hussar 1849

Hello everyone. Thanks for visiting my site. I'm getting started on a new bust sculpting project. It will depict this Hussar Guard in his glory similarly dressed as in the portrait shown here. The piece will be in my usual 250mm scale. I continue to be challenged by portraiture. It is not an easy thing to make a 2 dimensional image into a 3 dimensional sculpt. Wish me luck! This guy will have loads of character and detail. Thanks for looking in and more pics to follow soon!

Casimir Pulaski

Here are a couple of pic of the painted Pulaski bust I sculpted for Adlabertus Minitures of Poland. These are the boxart pics. Painted in acrylics with some oil glazes to the cap, collar and hair to give them some sheen (Martin or Charlie?) and depth.

The Red Knight

Here is a 75 mm Latorre figure I just painted. I was inspired to paint mine after seeing David Hood's version at the last Chicago Show. I don't get to paint many just for me so this one was fun to do. Painted mainly with acrylics but I got into using some oils for the groundwork and also for weathering the figure. I also added the wood grain with paint to the inside of the shield. I'll have this one at the Atlanta Show where it will be available for sale.

Here is the completed piece. I hope you like it. Not sure if this is exactly how he looked, but I think it's partly fact and partly the way I imagine him.

GW- Final Stretch

Some updated pics. Nearing completion, now. I've got to finish the pony tail and do final clean-up. Comments certainly welcomed!
